Duration

OVERVIEW
As 1 of 2 designers under Tesla’s Residential Energy Products, I worked work with PMs and Engineers to redesign and ship 10+ numerous features within Tesla's Commissioning Wizard.
The Wizard is an internal tool used by Tesla and its partner installers when setting up products like Powerwall, Solar Roof, and Wall Connector.
Most of my work is under an NDA, but enjoy a few public-facing highlights of my work.

HIGHLIGHT
Commissioning Wizard: Home Screen Redesign
Redesigned the Home Screen so Powerwall installers could quickly orient themselves to the items they needed to complete successfully in the set up process.
HIGHLIGHT
Commissioning Wizard: Error and Feedback System
Prevented the amount of installation errors made by Powerwall installers by introducing ways for the UI to provide preventative and reactionary feedback in real time.
Building for Niche Power Users
Prior to this internship, I did not know much about energy products. However, I had to quickly become an experienced professional in order to best understand Tesla installers and their pain points.
I found this extremely difficult at first, but came out understanding what type of research to conduct and questions to maximize understanding.
Combining Digital + Physical Interactions
Designing for this app required me to understand the actions users take when their physical actions effect their digital experience. In a world where physical and digital divides are becoming blurred, I had to learn how to create a healthy reliance between the two.
Specifically, I focused on how digital screens can respond and increase the accuracy of physical tasks.
